This encouraging, insightful, beautifully written book is a must-read for anyone who wants to know the heart of God more deeply. I loved reading the stories and different perspectives woven throughout the book, along with the biblical narrative from the gospel of John. The author did a wonderful job of showing us more about the love of God the Father for us through the life of God the Son. And it's easy to make connections between your life and the lessons of this book as you relate to the personal stories and see yourself in the pages of this book. This is a book you don't want to miss - God will use it in your life to grow your faith in Him!
What a great study! I learned so much about how I can trust God despite my circumstances, that He loves me above all else and despite my fears and failures. I loved that the author shared a present day vignette first, then scripture to support God's love for this particular struggle (someone lost, hopeless, ashamed, distant, etc). The vignettes weren't predictable nor all women. This was the most relatable study I've done so far- both personally and to others I know. It was a great group study book (for a small group of 3, but I'm hoping to also convince my larger church co-ed small group to study it together) with plenty of questions at the end of each chapter to drive conversation. I look forward to reading more from this author!
Highly recommended! I love what this book does- while embracing God’s power, greatness, and many other character qualities, it brings God’s love for each of us to a level we can relate to in our deepest being. In addition to a wide variety of personal experiences and stories that point out potential barriers to our understanding God’s love, this book demonstrates that love straight from God’s own book to us. I just finishing reading it and now want to start it all over again to make sure I didn’t miss an opportunity to learn just one more thing. A shout out to the author for being bold and sharing her own heart for God in such a beautiful way.
I truly cannot say enough good things about this book. It’s all about how Jesus makes the Father known to us. I’m learning so much I didn’t know. Yet it doesn’t read like a stuffy theology book - every chapter has a real life story that parallels one in John. Yet even more than that I’m experiencing more of who God is - the tender, loving, understanding God who is FOR me and treasures me. I am so glad this book exists and I think that whatever your view of God you’ll find something to encourage and challenge you here. Absolutelty recommend.
God For Us really helped me to have a clearer and deeper understanding of who God is and how much He truly loves me as shown through His Son, Jesus. I wasn’t expecting to relate to each chapter like I did! God really used Abby’s words and the in-depth study of the book of John to speak to my heart and deepen my faith. I appreciated the scripture at the end of each chapter that related to each topic, as well as the questions that gave me the opportunity to dig deeper. Abby has written a rich and encouraging book that is full of truth. It is not only worth reading, but worth sharing!
