I have read a lot of books on PCOS and hormones since I have been diagnosed about 10 years ago (I am now 31) Dr. Fiona's book is by far the best book on PCOS I have ever read. She breaks it all down what your endocrine is doing and why you are having the symptoms. She then goes step by step with supplements and diet on how you can help your body reverse your PCOS. One of the top things I loved about this book she is didn't just name off a supplement but gave a description of what it does for PCOS and how much of that supplement you should be taking to see an effective change. I had taken some of those supplements she recommends but when I saw what she recommended in dosing I was so off. I was taking far to little to see healing in my body. The diet part of the book was super eye opening as well. I have been gluten free for awhile now, and minimize my sugar intake, and low carb as much as I can, but I am still eating some higher carb things (like rice). Dr. Fiona introduces how we should eat to according how foods spike our insulin not only focus on blood sugar.Anyways, lets get to the nitty gritty. I have done the diet to best of my ability for over a month now (only cheated like 3 times on, cheese at a resturant). I added an arrange of supplements about 3 weeks ago as well. I am happy to inform that I feel a lot better! My acne is about 75% improved, I've lost 8 pounds, and started my period yesterday. I don't deal with facial or body hair, but I have excessive hair loss on my head. I know to see a visiable improvement on hair growth will at least take 6 months. This has been a huge blessing to me. I can't wait to see how my body changed over the next 3-6 months.

PROS:- This book contains, in one place, all those little bits of information that you have to hunt for all over the internet.- It references and explains actual research articles. Nothing "dumbed down" here! Parts of the book remind me of articles I had to read in my undergrad and MBA programs.- She provides specific and tangible things to do/eat/try based on simple quizzes.- She offers specific blood work tests that will provide certain answers. I feel more confident in asking my Dr for these things.CON:The one part of the book that is her own addition to the world of PCOS management, "insulin counting," leaves something to be desired in explanation. She provides a very short list of foods and their insulin counts. The theory comes across fine, but I am left with no idea how to use this idea in real life.

I have experienced PCOS all of my adult life. A little over a year ago I got this book, took the quizzes and started taking the suggested supplements. I was not able to take the full amount of some of them due to cost. I also started walking daily and doing high intensity exercise at least 3x/week. I am now 32 weeks pregnant!

My husband and I share an Amazon account. So this review is coming from a 29 year old female, diagnosed 2 years ago with PCOS.I couldn't put the book upon receiving it. Great information and insight on a syndrome that most OB/GYNS just want to prescribe pills for. This book really made me look at my daily life style and introduced me to changes I would have never known about or considered.I started a Ketogenic Diet on March 9, and today May 1, I've lost 18 lbs and got my period after it being absent for 5 months. My hormones are back in check and my mind feels clear again. I know I will always have PCOS, but finding ways to overcome the symptoms naturally and not from a prescription is better for my body.I follow Dr. Fiona on Facebook as she posts updates and does live Q&A's.She's wonderful and her book is fantastic!I bought a copy for my mom to help her understand PCOS better as well.

This book was very informative, even for someone like myself who has already spent years researching health and nutrition. Dr. Fiona provided details about the disease, as well as the related health risks, fertility issues, and dietary factors, that my gynecologist certainly didn't mention. I only gave 4 stars, however, because I was disappointed that the book didn't provide enough details when it came to the practical application of the treatments and because I felt the author made a few too many assumptions. For instance, she asserts that virtually everyone with PCOS has inflammation and some level of insulin resistance, but didn't provide details about what research she was basing that assumption on. It may be true, but I'd like to verify myself. Also, some of the doses on the natural supplements she recommends seem extremely high and she failed to warn in the book about some potential risks (for example, she recommends very high dose of white peony/licorice root for hormone balance, but failed to mention that it is not recommended to take this combo for more than 4-6 weeks and that there are some significant potential side effects). Like many other authors, she works on the assumption that the average woman is able to work closely with holistic, naturopathic doctors and expert herbalists, which is not the case for the majority. Most of us can only afford and find mainstream gynecologists, who are not supportive of natural treatments and consider many of the tests she recommends unnecessary, so we are truly on our own to fight this disease.

The best book on PCOS I have ever read. I've had pcos since I was 14 and spend a lot of time researching how I can make it better. For once, the author knows more about pcos than I do! I learned so much, and I am very grateful.

this is great great book.. i found great advice, better than my nutritionist and doctor advice.. I saw so far 5 endocrinologists.. this book is GOOD . I can judge and compare.. coz i have other PCOS book and this is great one. I tell you!!!
